The question I am about to ask flies in the face of everything this website is about...

Why is that we spend so much time working on the outside seeking external validation and approval?

After launching my company in 2005, I took 2 years off from the personal shopping and wardrobing aspect of my business. I felt it to be inauthentic to focus so much on clothes and outer image, rather than what I knew to be the true source of any powerful image.... INNER BEAUTY! I even convinced myself that I was participating in the negative and pressure-based ideals and standards that we women face from day to day. So... I terminated the style work and focused on coaching and engaging in more meaningful aspects of Strut! But, as time went on, I realized that having a beautiful, functional and appropriate wardrobe IS meaningful and I did kind of miss that part of my business.

Thinking back to one of my favorite parts of my job, I remember that moment, standing in the mirror with a woman who has just "seen herself" perhaps for the first time. She sees her beauty, she sees her sensuality, she sees her elegance and in that moment... yeah... she sees her spirit. How do I know? Well for one thing, there is a radiance that comes from within, that IS spiritual. Have you ever seen real radiance? Typically, it is associated with an inner joy or peace. An inner knowing that says I SEE YOU!
